Most Valuable Player of the Tournament

The candidates for the most valuable player of the tournament have been shortlisted to six, and they are:

Nigel Codrington of Guyana – With 11 goals to his name Codrington ended the campaign as the highest scorer in the tournament and although his Guyana failed to make it through to the final 4, Codrington was a major part of their 100% record in Guyana’s qualifying rounds

Jenier Marquez Molina of Cuba – Boasting the second most number of clean sheets in the entire tournament, the Cuban captain showed why the number 1 ranked CFU side were one of the pre tournament favorites as he led his side superbly to third place

Gary Glasgow of T&T – Although the Soca Warriors did not participate in the qualifying rounds, the veteran Glasgow showed true international class by claiming the Digicel Caribbean Cup Golden Boot Award for the finals tournament. With 6 goals to his name in 5 games, Glasgow showed he’s a major threat to any defense

Jocelyn Angloma of Guadeloupe – With very little introduction required, the former French International showed true class whether coming on from the bench or starting in a midfield role for the French West Indies. He single handedly won at least two games for Guadeloupe and was one of the major factors that ensured they reached their first ever CONCACAF Gold Cup qualification

Bruny Pierre-Richard of Haiti – Captain Fantastic. After taking the longest route possible, Haiti showed true champions form in the final of the Digicel Caribbean Cup and no one epitomized that more than the towering Haitian centre half Bruny.

Melvin Andrews of St Vincent and the Grenadines – The surprise package of the Digicel Caribbean Cup, SVG managed to knock out the holders Jamaica in the first round and brought defeat to the previously unbeaten and much fancied Guyana. The heroic displays of goalkeeper Andrews was the single biggest reason for this and he fully merits his candidacy for the top player of the tournament.
