Thursday, December 11 – Kingston, Jamaica: Jamaica Reggae Boyz’ Head Coach JohnBarnes is bracing for a strong challenge from Guadeloupe in the Semi-Final round of the 2008 Digicel Caribbean Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston today.

Barnes, who watched his team top Group A of the tournament with a sloppy 1-1 draw with arch rivals Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday, knows the hosts are capable of going all the way and win the title, but warns the Reggae Boyz can only do so playing consistently well.   "If we play like we did against Grenada and the first half against Barbados we will be a test for anybody. We respect everybody. I have seen Guadeloupe play and I know they will give us problems."

He believes the performance against Trinidad & Tobago at the Trelawny Multi-purpose stadium on Sunday was totally unacceptable and Jamaica could find themselves eliminated if they don’t lift their game. We cannot choose when to perform and when not to perform. It was a bad performance, no question about that. We did not play with any tactical or positioning discipline. And I don’t expect them to play like that again.”

Jamaica, who also qualified for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup, will meet a confident Guadeloupe side who on Monday booked their place in the semis with a 2-2 draw with Antigua & Barbuda. In the other semi-finals Grenada, the surprise package of the final round thus far, tackle the Lions of The Caribbean, Cuba.
